I LOVE THOSE PEOPLE!!! THAT IS COMPLETELY AWESOME!
April 20th, 2008 at 9:25 am
I want them to be my granmama and granpapa
April 20th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I love them too!! I can only hope my husband and I are half this awesome later on in life.
April 20th, 2008 at 9:54 am
haha!
yes!
i wish they were my family!
April 20th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Awww, that’s really sweet.
Fights the stereotype about the old generation being so conservative.
April 20th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Yeah! Those people are awesome. Though he spelled Marriage incorrectly the second time. ;D
April 20th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Lmao, Kyle I just noticed that too and thought… hmm, well it is OK just this once.
April 20th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
That made me smile.
Thanks

HAVE YOU ALL GONE MAD?
WHAT ABOUT THE BIBLE!
WHAT ABOUT KILLING THE UNFIT AND THE UNDESIRABLES!
THEY ARE GAY! THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO MARRY!.. oh but I suppose we got it wrong with the left handed thing.. kay..sorry
still old people are never coo.. they should be dead for reals.. too much time on their hands
April 21st, 2008 at 10:29 am
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:31 am
Crazy old fools
Probably just out of nuthouse
April 21st, 2008 at 10:34 am
I agree with Moses, lets put them to death.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:40 am
Come on guys, gay marriage isn’t hurting anyone. I’m straight and married, and if my husband was a girl I’d love him/her just as much.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:42 am
I think it’s good for those people to say what they think, it’s also good because they’re an older generation. And about the typo; they’re cool so that doesn’t matter!
And please could you people stop bringing the bible in these fights?! It’s really annoying! It’s just a book, a world bestseller ok… But still you shouldn’t live by it word by word, but just take good things out of it, helping mankind. Kama Sutra is also a good examplel, and no it isn’t all about sex, it has a lot of other stuff in it. Just take out the thinks you like and use it to make the world a bit nicer!
April 21st, 2008 at 10:59 am
@ Henk de Vries: “It’s just a book, a world bestseller ok… ”
So are the Harry Potter books. Just sayin.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:05 am
Moses says wrote: “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” (Lev. 18:22)
And then there is Leviticus 19.
v 19 Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.
v 26 Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it.
v 27 Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.
v 37 Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the LORD.
Pretty clear, eh!
April 21st, 2008 at 11:06 am
Thumbs up to those old folks, theres nothing wrong with gay marriage, it doesn’t harm anyone. They don’t bang on your door and go ‘Be gay or you’ll go to hell and be forever damned.” And no, the bible is NOT the answer to everything, use your brains and think outside the religious box.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:18 am
Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it. - referring to a vagina.
Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard. - is referring to pubes. “head”
April 21st, 2008 at 11:20 am
Interesting that everyone is so forgiving of the bad grammar because they agree with the old couple. If their message was otherwise, the misspelling would be ripped apart mercilessly and used to point out how that makes their viewpoint invalid.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:21 am
Three cheers for double standards!
April 21st, 2008 at 11:25 am
Ha, yea, good thinking d….because God wrote the bible in slang. I’d like to see bling bling in there and maybe some getting krunk.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:52 am
Wow, seeking to define marriage by constitutional amendment is hate. How easily that term is bandied about.
It amazes that just because a certain people group choose to jam their genitalia where it wasn’t designed to go that they become a protected class of citizen.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Wow…I’m really hoping they die soon!
April 21st, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Ballers.
I bet they support medical cannabis as well.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:28 pm
pull your head out of your a$$ people we are living in the 21st century are we not ?? who cares what other people want to do with their personal life,,, do the try and cram it down your neck?? do the try and shove it up your bum???? i dont think they do ,, do they?? they dont come and bash on your door at 6:00 am in the morning dribbling crap about gay bars and the like do they ?? NO NO THEY BLOODY DONT !!!!!! so pi$$ off back to the stone age and leave the rest of the civilised world to grow and populate without your input.. its because of the gullible people like you that we will more likeley be overrun with a race that believes that star wars was the re-translated version of the original bible in years to come becuse that was just as popular today as was the bible 1000 years ago,,,, i happily agree with these old couple and hope that in a more mature world we all could get along reguardless of sexual, religious, political, or other conflicting views because at the end of the day ,, isnt that what many of our great grandfathers, grandfathers fathers and uncles cousins and sons died for and indeed still to this day die for at war???? the rights of ALL humans to live an un-persocuted life ???
just my personal opinion though
April 21st, 2008 at 12:30 pm
I am actually surprised by all of the negative comments. I still love these folks. So does my girlfriend.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:32 pm
you know just because your dick gets a little hard thinking about gay sex & you hate yourself for feeling that way, doesn’t mean you need to start reciting the bible. because i’m sure you’re all God fairing individuals in EVERY aspect of your lives. also, if 2 people love each other & want to spend the rest of their lives together, you don’t know them, who are you to tell them what they can or cannot do? oh, that’s right your so richeous, you have that ability because your OPINION doesn’t harm you. & yes, defining marriage by constitutional is a form of hate, more over it’s a definite violation of that whole separation of church & state thing. you know because marriage is a religious institution. but hey, you’re ignorant and god forbid you go out and educate yourself on issues that don’t affect you, even indirectly. good luck in your little bubbles! as for this couple, there need to be more of these types in the world. that type of tolerance surely would help to make the world a better place
April 21st, 2008 at 12:56 pm
hey um #27 a…. YOU”RE RETARDED GAYS ARE WRONG YOU SAID, “if 2 people love each other & want to spend the rest of their lives together, you don’t know them, who are you to tell them what they can or cannot do?” THAT’S LIKE SAYING OH WELL THIS 10 YEAR OLD BOY AND THIS 70 YEAR OLD PEDIFILE LOVE EACH OTHER LETS GET THEM MARRIED.
and yes you should GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU FUCKING QUEER!
April 21st, 2008 at 1:05 pm
I was going to delete your comment. Instead, I will be bigger than you.
That is very different actually, and do you recognize why? Well, a 7-year-old boy is not able to give his consent, legally or mentally. In fact, I find that as sick as you do.
Comparing that to two legal adults, however?
Oh, get a life. And don’t even try to being beastiality into this, because animals can’t consent either.
Get a degree or something.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:10 pm
I just want to say… even if you don’t believe gay marriage is ok because of the bible you need to look up some verses about judging. That’s really Christian like to say someone needs to die… God really likes that huh? Ye with out sin shall cast the first stone.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:13 pm
GIVE ME PROOF THAT THE BIBLE IS 100% TRUTH AND I WILL FOLLOW..BUT UNTIL YOU CAN GIVE ME **PROOF**(SOMETHING XTIANS SEEM TO IGNORE) I WILL THINK FOR MYSELF…(WOW…2 IN A ROW…ANOTHER THING YOU PEOPLE ARNT CAPABLE OF)
not directed at *REAL* xtians…just fundies.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:18 pm
@ gayssuck hahahaha you gotta be the most retarded human on the face of the planet, how does the support of gay marriage inline support paedophilia ?? its not like saying that a all moron its peoples right to choose what to do with their life NOT your right to tell them you narrow minded lowbrow loser get a life of your own and stop trying to run everyone else’s because you don’t agree with it go back to school and learn how to spell and while you’re there try and graduate at least the 2nd grade this time dickhead. Its morons like you that Hitler should have tried to wipe out instead of the Jews you CUM STAIN ON A WHORES MATTRESS i believe that the better part of you rolled down your mothers leg the night you were conceived, PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN BLOWJOBS and not allowed the privelidge of being part of the human race.. insult the supporters of this all you like fucktard it just makes you look like a bigger dickhead anyway .. and please DO be offended at what i say to you if you so wish but after all its just words on a computer screen isn’t it ??
( just another straight man for the rights of gays and humans in general )
April 21st, 2008 at 1:36 pm
@ gayssuck: well thank you for your passionate comeback! i’m a little saddened that you couldn’t find a more compelling argument than pedophilia. i would have loved to have an intelligent conversation with you regarding your views and why you feel that way so strongly. oh well, as i said, good luck in you’re little bubble. & btw, i won’t tell anyone that the thought of gay sex turns you on a little.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:47 pm
These people are awesome…we need more like them!
April 21st, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Good for them, they deserve a good pat on the back. Really if you don’t like gays then you don’t have to pay one bit of attention to them.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:56 pm
People who do bestiality aren’t hurting anyone either. Or if they marry their tractor. But I don’t see bestiality rights groups, or tractor-marrying civil rights movements. I suppose that just because they’re not hurting anyone, they’re ok, right? Lol, listen to your own logic people, cuz when you apply it to other things, you realize it makes no sense.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:58 pm
come on, bringing the bible into this argument since it is the best seeling book of fiction. and one of the arguments for not allowing gay marriage is that it is becuase they can not procreate, so to follow the same rules a man or woman that is sterile should not be allowed to marry. and i feel that it doesn’t threaten marriage since if they are homosexual they wouldn’t marry a person of the opposite gender anyway.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:59 pm
It’s a cute couple in the picture… the kind of people you’ld like to have living next door. The views about homosexuality that they are expressing, in no way reflect the majority view in American society however.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:03 pm
“People who do bestiality aren’t hurting anyone either. Or if they marry their tractor. But I don’t see bestiality rights groups, or tractor-marrying civil rights movements. I suppose that just because they’re not hurting anyone, they’re ok, right? Lol, listen to your own logic people, cuz when you apply it to other things, you realize it makes no sense.”
They may not be hurting people, but that is animal abuse. And why would anyone marry a tractor? I am sorry, but I don’t see what sense you are trying to provide.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I’m surprised by all the ignorant and hateful comments. Remember homophobia hurts everyone.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Despite the spelling errors, I think this really is quite awesome. Overly religious people are such hypocrites and really just need to shut the fuck up, because they give their own religion a bad look, since I understand and don’t believe that EVERY Christian is an intolerant prick.. just the outspoken ones that are, in fact, assholes and an embarrassment.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:06 pm
How do you know its animal abuse? Maybe the animal likes it. And maybe some guy has a tractor fetish, how should I know? All I’m saying is that “not hurting anyone” is pretty weak logic for any argument.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:07 pm
“Homophobia?” Labeling people who disagree with you doesn’t help either.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:08 pm
there’s only one reason there are so many narrow minded people in the world. The bible teaches you how to be ignorant and hate anything thats different. Personaly i can’t fathom how so many people can blindly accept the hate and murder taught in a dusty old book writen by a mob of primitives. what’s up with that put them to death, get real this isn’t the first century any more we live in a civilisation that has laws and rights. if religion can stop these people from living their lives how they want, how long is it before Athiest such as myself are locked up??? i’m sure it tells them to do THAT somwhere too.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:12 pm
The couple in the picture probably have a son or daughter (grandson or granddaughter) who is involved in a homosexual relationship. Their position of support is understandable and sweet. Again, it does not however, reflect the opinion of the vast majority of Americans.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Lol, yes, its apparent that all religious Christians in the world hate so much, but you’re just such a loving person, which explains why you’re slamming them so much, and are completely intolerant of their views.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:17 pm
“Straight eye for the gay guy?” Come on! Wear some plaid!
April 21st, 2008 at 2:18 pm
My only thought on the topic is that as someone stated earlier (#27) “it’s a definite violation of that whole separation of church & state thing. you know because marriage is a religious institution.” Because marriage is a religious institution, that religion should be able to dictate standards for it. Gay marriage is not allowed by Biblical standards and I’m not sure why people who are against those standards still seek to have the religious union. Perhaps some type of civil union granting legal benefits but not religious status would be best for everyone.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:22 pm
That is how I feel, Kevin. Being a Christian Lesbian, I don’t let the two intertwine, and neither should the government. I won’t call it marriage if that is what they won’t call it, but I want the same rights at least.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:26 pm
cas- What rights do you want that you don’t already have?
April 21st, 2008 at 2:31 pm
I want my girlfriend’s healthcare.
I want to be able to see her in the hospital if she is sick.
And I want to be recognized.
That is what I am asking for.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:37 pm
TheDoorMan- Just because somebody doesn’t agree with a view of yours or your lifestyle, doesn’t mean they hate you. It just means they have a different point of view. Calling people who feel that homosexuality is wrong “haters” is just a simplistic retort made by people who can’t defend their position and can’t tolerate other people challenging their position.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:40 pm
I know, I was replying to Cam, who decided it was his job to bash religion in general, proving his ridiculous intolerance and inability to put forth any rational argument.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:49 pm
cas- I want your girlfriend’s healthcare too. Unfortunately for you and me, society isn’t set up that way.
I could visit your girlfriend when she is in the hospital, why can’t you?
Assuming that when you say you want to be “recognized” you actually mean you want your lifestyle to “accepted,” that may happen some day within the legal system, but it will never happen within the religious and moral structures of our society. You are asking millions upon millions of people to change their beliefs… beliefs that have been held across the world for thousands of years. That’s a tall order on your wish-list.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:54 pm
On the contrary, I HAVE been denied access to visiting my girlfriend in the hospital because I am not “family.”
And jobs offer plans for “husbands and wives” for healthcare, that I am not eligible for.
Furthermore, I am not demanded acceptance, what I mean be recognition is that these two things need to happen.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Good for these people. They have cut one of the main arguments of fundamentalists off at the knees. How is it logically possible that the marriage of two homosexuals would threaten the institution of marriage? The institution of marriage is ancient, quite likely dating back before recorded history (and yes, the Earth is more than 6000 years old, people. Just because the Hebrews have no earlier record does not mean that history began when they had the idea to start remembering it in song and writing it down a few millenia later.) and will not be threatened by this recent addition to the world.
Now, for a little about myself. I am a rather average looking, white, straight male Christian (of my own stripe). Yes, in spite of my comments above, I do believe in Jesus and God the Father. I do not, however take the Bible to be an infallible document. Allow me to explain.
The idea for creating a unified Christian canon was born of the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. The Bible as we know it was developed in 382 A.D. at the Council of Rome. Both of these councils were over three centuries after Christ’s death, which leaves plenty of time for all kinds of different ideologies to develop. The councils themselves were convened so as to create a unified doctrine so that the Roman empire(s) could have a unifying doctrine to keep their empires from being rent apart from internal religious strife. I feel that much of what is in the Bible was included for political reasons, just as what was left out (the Apocrypha, the Gospels of Judas and Barnabas, etc.) was left out for political convenience.
So the Bible, to me, is little more than a book. Yes, it contains (hey word: contains) the words of God and his Son, Jesus Christ, but it is not the Word of God in and of itself. So, much of what is found in the Bible must be taken with an eye towards the historical context in which it happened, or taken with a grain of salt. Therefore, I do not take the command to kill homosexuals literally. The laws of Leviticus were created for a tribal culture thousands of years ago, for which the institution of marriage was something that needed to be protected as a matter of survival. Human society has developed to the point that we can easily support the existence of homosexuals without worrying about whether our tribe will survive. If one were to label me, they should label me as a red-letter Christian, one who follows the words of Jesus and those alone. ( For those who do not know, some versions of the Bible have the words that Jesus spoke printed in red, hence the term red-letter Christian.)
So fundamentalists, get over it already. This is the year 2008 A.D., not 2008 B.C. While I agree that homosexuality is amoral, I do not share your hate. People are people and the right to be treated as such. And for those who would yet be hateful, I leave you with John 12:47: “And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.”
April 21st, 2008 at 3:13 pm
fuck all the ignorant christans, who are we to tell two ppl they cant get married just because our religion says they cant, u guys are forcing ur religion on other ppl and guess what thats unconstitutional, it’s the first Amendment
April 21st, 2008 at 3:29 pm
What if its my view that I should be allowed to kill people? Or cheat on taxes? Or do a number of things which are illegal? Wouldn’t that be violating my first amendment rights then?
April 21st, 2008 at 3:48 pm
It is scientifically proven that being gay is a mental disorder. so you are saying if you had a mentally ill person that wanted to eat glue all day and do nothing else, you would let him do that because he is “different, but still has rights”, or “he is a full grown adult and he can do what he wants”? It is morally and biblically WRONG!
April 21st, 2008 at 3:53 pm
and in response to TheDoorMan, the first amendment clearly states that you rights must be used within reason and not to do harm. It would not be protected under the first amendment if you ran into a crowded theater screaming “fire! fire!” when in fact there was no fire, and people got injured in the proceeding rush out of the exits. But it does grant us the right to our opinion, such as these comments on this picture.
April 21st, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Should I ask you for a source, “wrong” or should I just judge by the statement “It is morally and biblically WRONG!” that it is the Bible?
No, no, you’re right — people who have depression shouldn’t be able to marry either because they might pass it on to their children.
Some of you just crack me up. At least a few are willing to have legitimate responses, no matter what their viewpoints are, I respect that.
April 21st, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Hey, if God was against homosexual relations/marriage, couldn’t he just strike them all dead? If you believe that God is against this, do you believe then, that God does not care enough to use his powers against the homosexuals, who in my opinion, are in know way deserving of persecution.
April 21st, 2008 at 3:59 pm
>:3 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST ITS A LION O MY GOD RUN AWAY HOLY CRAP ITS GETTING CLOSE OMG OMG OMG WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO OH FUCK ME GET IN THE CAR
April 21st, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Let’s say there is this ‘other’ religion that allows gay marriage. If marriage is a religious thing, if I am not a christian, my gay marriage would be considered legal?
This is where your argument falls apart. Marriage is not just a religious establishment. It is an establishment with legal and social consequences. Ever heard of Uniform Civil code? The legal, social establishment should be inclusive of all religious options, and nonreligious options as well.
When you say, marriage is a religious establishment, does that mean atheists cannot get married? Or does it mean, atheists get different laws to live by?
April 21st, 2008 at 4:02 pm
I was being facetious, making fun of the “its a First Amendment Right” argument.
April 21st, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Marriage isn’t always religious anymore- even between a straight couple. I’ll probably end up in a heterosexual marriage, but I don’t plan to have a church and minister and whatnot. Just the legalities and a big party.
April 21st, 2008 at 5:04 pm
I like how Obama puts it. He says marriage is a religious institution, so it should remain for people who want to become united under God. However, Obama also states that he is for civil unions between two people of any sex who get the same rights and benefits as a married couple in the eyes of the government. I completely agree with these points.
As far as Atheism and marriage, I do not think Atheists should get married. Why? Because marriage is a religious institution. When you get married, you’re making a vow before the person you love and God that you will not leave this person until one of you dies. It is an oath and a pact that you make with God, not unlike the oath God has made with his people (refer to Bible). I do think there should be a civil union that anyone can participate in that holds the same rights and benefits as marriage, but it’s just a contract the government recognizes, not a union under God.
I also think hatred toward homosexuals is completely misplaced. A homosexual is a human being regardless of their sexual orientation, so they should have the same rights and benefits that all human beings have.
The only hatred the Bible preaches is God’s hatred of sin. If anyone gets hatred out of the Bible it is a complete mis-interpretation since it contradicts everything the Christian religion is about.
April 21st, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Wow. The hatred displayed here makes me feel ill. Even more so if it’s displayed by people who call themselves Christians but clearly decide to cherry-pick from the Bible. “I think homosexuality is disgusting, and the Bible says so! … What do you mean I can’t eat hamburgers or shave my beard? WHAT? WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT?! … DAMN IT!”
Seriously, to some extent I can understand those who are religious who don’t want to grant homosexuals the right to marry in the Church, though I am an atheist myself. But I don’t understand why they should not be allowed to enter into a civil union in the courthouse, granting homosexuals the same rights as heterosexuals, but WITHOUT ANY RELIGIOUS involvement. Where’s the danger in that?
Also, drawing parallels between paedophilia/bestiality and homosexuality is ridiculous. One involves TWO CONSENTING ADULTS, and the other two does not. Simple as that! Yes, we cannot know whether the animals enjoy the sexual intercourse, but we also cannot know whether they dislike it. Unlike a human being, THEY CANNOT STATE IT, which is part of the reason why it’s forbidden by law. And the paedophilia argument is ridiculous, again, because civil unions/marriages between two gay consenting adults have NOTHING in common with paedophilia, where children are being taken advantage of by adults.
I suspect the reason why it’s not legal to marry your chair/computer/tractor/whatever is because marriage has social and financial consequences, and some people would perhaps take advantage of these, if they were able to come by them simply by getting hitched with their garden hose. Plus, you know, these objects can’t refuse. A marriage is (sorry, SHOULD BE) a union between two consenting adults. They garden hose may be 50 years old, but it sure as hell can’t even speak up to lie about its age, let alone agree to a marriage.
And, “#57 wrong”, LOL! where on earth is it stated that homosexuality is a mental disease? The American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from the official manual that lists mental and emotional disorders in 1973. In the past studies of gay, lesbian and bisexual people involved only those in therapy (oooh, I wonder why — perhaps because people were threatening them/discriminating against them/beating them up/disowning them? — I would be depressed/suicidal/anxious too!), thus biasing the resulting conclusions. However, when researchers examined data about homosexual people who were NOT in therapy, the idea that homosexuality was a mental illness was quickly found to be UNTRUE. Also, there are numerous theories about why some people are homosexuals while others aren’t, and we are yet to find an answer to it. Most scientists today (who aren’t religiously biased) think that homosexuality is a result of a complex interaction of environmental, cognitive and biological factors and recent evidence suggest that biology, including genetic or inborn hormonal factors, play a significant role in a person’s sexuality. That’s to say, IT IS NOT A CHOICE ONE MAKES.
Seriously, if there is a God, then let Him/Her be the judge. In fact, if I were God, I’d be a little bit pissed at all of these unimportant humans trying to speak for me, and take matters into their own hands. Focus on your own life, and worry a little less about what’s going on between TWO CONSENTING ADULTS. Sure, you may think it’s “icky” but, to be honest, so is the thought of my fat hairy neighbour fucking his smelly old wife up the butt, but I’m not going to complain about that because I don’t have to join in.
April 21st, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Oh, and yea… I wouldn’t let a grown mentally challenged individual “eat glue all day” because it’s toxic. Sex is not, as far as I know. In fact, it’s quite safe (and good for you!) if one uses protection.
More sex to the people! More endorphins!
April 21st, 2008 at 5:25 pm
That’s pretty awesome. I always agreed with that guy. I’m a straight guy, but I know plenty of gay people. After you start to talk with them and hangout with them, nothing seems different, not that it ever was. You learn real quick to see past stuff like that, and for those who hate gay people just because they’re not straight… you’re probably in denial. For those who hate gay people because the bible says so… get real. Hating someone because of who they are is contradictory. Not to mention of God knows everything ahead of time, then he knew who would be gay and who wouldn’t be. Keep in mind that people wrote the bible and it’s been passed on from generation to generation. Things have been changed, and believe it or not, the bible once said that people should kill black people because they’re black.
April 21st, 2008 at 6:15 pm
It’s really sad that such a great image brings out so much hate. Lets be there’s nothing in the bible that is meant to be taken literally hence bible STORIES. They are cute non of it’s real, im sure some body will get mad about me saying that but I was the president of my schools gay and multi cultural groups so im used to it (and im straight by the way). If you are going to take the bible literally then you should know that the only one with rights to judge is god and all of you who hate in gods name will be damed to hell. The adorable couple pictured has a free ride to heaven, i guarantee it, I feel sorry for those of you who are so closed minded you write terrible things about people who are so full of love.

I want to thank everyone who is being so positive about this. Clearly, some very sheltered, very ignorant people are trouncing around this forum talking about things they don’t understand. I’m so pleasantly surprised to see so many of us taking a stand against these jerks! Way to go people! High fives for those of us who evolved enough to realize that gay people are still human beings.
Oh, and one little, snippy side note:
I think it’s hilarious when conservatives cry like babies every time a piece of gun control legislation is pushed to congress. How DARE we want to change the constitution!!!!!!!! It’s sacred!! It can NEVER change!!!!! Wait— GAY people want to get married???? CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION!!!!! QUICK!!!!!! IT’S WRONG, SO WE MUST MAKE IT ILLEGAL!!!!
Convenient, no?
Conservatives: Please stop only allowing changes in the constitution for your (and only your) benefit. It’s not fair.
I’m straight. I grew up in a small, mostly white, community with a very very tiny gay population. Before college, I had very little interaction with homosexuals, bisexuals and transgendereds. But I just adapted. I simply just got used to it. Why is it so hard for some people to be decent human beings? Gay people getting married doesn’t hurt anyone. Quit being hate mongers. Hate is SO 1938. Grow up. Go to college, finish highschool, get a job, whatever. But stop hating! It’s not the homosexual’s faults that you fail at life.
Game, blouses.
-Sincerely:
Someone capable of caring.

I am amazed at all the bile and hatred spewing forth from so many people that allow their lived to be ruled by a book (even if it was written piecemeal years and even centuries after the “fact”). Perhaps it’s that they feel so burdened by the ‘rules’ that are spelled out in the the book that they feel controlled. And what better way for someone that feels controlled to feel better than to lash out at others that could possibly be controlled by THEM?
OK, so the bible says homosexuality is wrong. It also say we may own slaves from neighboring countries. It also says we may kill our neighbor for working on the sabbath. It also says we may kill children if they disrespect their parents (what a drop in population we’d have then, huh?)
And one of the arguments that people that are against gay marriage that I find particularly ridiculous is that marriage is meant for those that can procreate. It’s only meant for those that can produce children which, obviously, gay couples can’t.
So where is the outcry against women that are past child-bearing years to marry? Isn’t it cute when two 70 year olds get married? Awwww. But they can’t bear children. Why is nobody griping about that?? And using that same argument, a man with a vasectomy or a woman that’s had her tubes tied should neither be allowed to marry, or if already married, continue their current marriage.
Personally, I’m on my 2nd marriage (sorry if divorce is wrong according to your belief system) and I’ve never been happier. We just celebrated our 1st anniversary. Never made it to 4 with my first wife. However, through my 1st wife, I got to meet a gay couple that’s been together for close to 20 years. Longer than quite a few ‘legal’ marriages. But the love that they have for each other doesn’t count to some of you, but it’s just perfectly fine for two hetero people that may find out later that they’re not as compatible as they first thought to get married because it doesn’t offend YOUR definition of right and wrong.
Not that I wouldn’t expect a certain number of divorces with married gays; every marriage has its ups and downs and sometimes irreconcilable differences. But why shouldn’t they have the same chance at making a life of happiness as the rest of us ‘normal’ people?
What I find offensive is that YOU (you know who you are) feel that it’s YOUR duty to intrude into other people’s private lives when their lives have no effect on yours, positive OR negative!
And, I believe that being gay is NOT a ‘choice.’ If I ‘chose’ to be gay and had to deal with you fundie assholes day in and day out, don’t you think I’d change my choice just so my life wouldn’t be a living hell?
Anyway, this is turning into a freakin’ book, so I’ll end there.
Except to say “Get a life!” and stop trying to run other people’s lives!

And to #56 PontiusPilate:
Although we disagree that homosexuality is amoral (many heterosexuals are just a promiscuous as the stereotyped gay; hetero guys aren’t shy about putting the proverbial ‘notches’ on their belts), as far as marriage goes, how is love immoral?
But I applaud you, even though I’m in no way religious, for showing that you, as opposed to many of the ignorant, apparently poorly educated, insulting, holier-than-thou, I’m-better-than-you types that decided to chime in on the subject, took the time to write an articulate, educated response. You’ve obviously done your homework re: the assembly of the Bible (I capitalized it out of respect for you).
I respect you because you’ve done your own thinking as opposed to just regurgitating force-fed ‘facts’ like so many others seem to do.
And I respect your right to your personal religious beliefs. And I’m happy to see you’re not the fundie type and that you respect the rights of others to live their lives without intrusion by others who ‘know better.’
I am a firm believer of the First Amendment. Anyone has the absolute to right to freedom of religion. As I also believe it gives us freedom FROM religion, if we so choose. But this country is moving closer and closer to a theocracy. The very sort of thing we cry out loudly against when a nation has an Islamic theocracy or anything else we decry as ‘evil’ we’re becoming in our own way. But we put a pretty face on it and tell everyone that THIS is different. It’s not Allah, it’s God, so it’s OK. WE’RE not the religious fanatics, THEY are!
Only a matter of time before I get lined up against the wall along with the gays and anyone else that dares to dissent. Hopefully I won’t feel the bullet. Ironically, I ask you to pray for me.
Geez, I have a tendency to ramble. LOL

“It is scientifically proven that being gay is a mental disorder.”
I love it when Bible thumpers try to use “science” when it suits them. I’ll break it on down for you, so please try to follow along:
1. There is no evidence that being gay is a mental disorder.
2. If you believe that being gay is biblically wrong, then you also must believe that people who work on Sunday must be put to death. Exodus 31:12-15.
3. So, if you’ve worked on Sunday even once in your life, you need to kill yourself. Please do so now.

While some of you have posted the appropriate response, others have posted only what they believe to be true due to their soul growth and not asking God for the correct answer and only listening to what other humans say. As aminister, I am 100% positive that God doesn’t care if you are gay or not. It’s the soul of man that God sees and nothing else. The body is only used to protect the spirit which protects the soul. When the soul incarnates into the human body, it only looks to see if the fetus can support it. NOTHING MORE. THe human body DOES NOT ascend into Heaven. It’s the soul. So if you love someone, whether it’s a same sex or not, that is what matters to God. Ask Him youself if you don’t believe me. GO GAY RELATIONSHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One other thing. The marriadge institution was created BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE. It is not sacred as far as God created it. It was created by man to introduce the stability of family life, to raise children and UPSTEP the human race from the animals we became after the fall of our first parents. Religion started with the fear of ghosts and continued to have things added BY HUMANS so that the churches could control the human population. When big brother Jesus was here, He procaimed the glad tidings of the REBESTOWAL OF DIVINE LOVE, in which our first parents forfeited which caused our planet to be shut off from the Heavens and we became LIKE animals, and that there is only ONE GOD. That was His mission and since that time, churches have distorted everything that He taught. SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD then, and only then, will you know the truth.
Love commands the universe. Man only resorts to control when Love is missing - Jesus

That is GREAT! OMG SO nice to see older people who are willing to take a stand! Especially since earlier generations weren’t always so open minded. Iam impressed!
